To be honest with y’all I kinda got stuck in the past when it comes to hip-hop and because of that the majority of the records in my collection are dated pre-1998. With that in mind I think this will be my first Vinyl Addicts review for a record that was actually released in 1998. Inspired by Ol’ EightyFive’s recent piece on Beantown’s M-Slash I felt it was about that time to unleash this rare indy joint from Boston, Massachusetts onto the visitors of our beloved website.

'Like the previous two "Back To The Underground" mixes this one contains mostly mid 90s independent hip hop tracks. Some are well known others not so but I tried to make a mix that I can still listen to in the future and not get bored with it. Now here’s an interesting piece for all the record-collecting hip-hop fiends out there. A few months before this single was picked up by Profile Records and presented to a bigger audience, it was put in a limited quantity of 300 copies through a small independent label from Trenton, New Jersey named Diversity Records (which I believe was a label run by Trenton’s own Tony D and YZ or at least one of them). Apart from this 12” by Too Kool Posse the label also released singles from YZ.G-Rock (YZ’s first single) and L.Q. MC.’s, both of which are hard to find.

Don’t you just love it when eBay sellers list dope records in the wrong section or when eBay’s listing system just doesn’t work as it should? Recently a Dutch seller listed this EP from New Jersey’s Long Ova Due crew, but for some reason it couldn’t be found in the section it was listed in and it also didn’t show in the seller’s auction list. I don’t even know how I found it, but I guess I was the only one who somehow did and I scooped it for the starting price of $9,99, which was a steal if you ask me.
